Prabowo-Sandi Party Expects KPU to Remodel the Format of the 2019 Presidential Election Debate
Jurnal Akbar. Party of Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno hopes the General Election Commission (KPU) will overhaul the debate format for the Candidates for the President and Candidates for the Vice-President (Vice-President).
The Prabowo-Sandi pair hopes that the second debate is different from the first Presidential Election debate. One of them, KPU provides an opportunity for panelists to ask questions.
According to Fadli Zon Member of the Steering Committee of the National Winning Body (BPN) Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno, do not let panelists such as 'Pajangan', such as during the first presidential election debate.
"Panelists are just a display there," said Fadli Zon, at the Parliament Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (01/21/2019).
Fadli Zon said that the panelists debating the presidential election must be people who have guaranteed integrity and can be accepted by the two camps of the Candidates for the Vice-President Candidates.
"And (the panelists) should just ask and be released," said Fadli Zon, Deputy Chairperson of the Gerindra Party.
As is known, the first debate of the Candidates for the Vice-President Candidates was held on January 17 yesterday. In the debate, the party who gave the questions to the Presidential Election candidate was the moderator. Meanwhile, panelists just sat and watched.
The moderator's question is the result of recommendations from the panelists. Meanwhile, at the time of the 2014 Presidential Election, panelists debated could provide questions to candidates.
The possibility of reforming the format, after the KPU received many suggestions regarding the implementation of the first debate of the 2019 Presidential and Vice-Presidential Candidates.
"There are a lot of inputs, there are those who say it is good that there are also those who criticize, There are parties who criticize the issue of letting the debate questions, Therefore the KPU still opens the opportunity to change the format of the next debate," said Arief Budiman, KPU Chairperson at KPU office, Jakarta On Friday (1/18/2019).
According to Arief Budiman, criticism is not only binding on the conduct of debates, there are also those who criticize the prospective pairs of debate participants.
"The records are normal, because they certainly cannot satisfy everything because there are those who feel this is enough, there are those who say this is extraordinary, there are those who say this is not good in terms of implementation or from the candidate's side," he said.
The KPU will confirm the format of the next debate after considering the first presidential election debate. The evaluation meeting will be held on Monday 21 January 2019.
"Later on Monday we will conduct the first debate evaluation meeting and immediately begin preparations for the second debate," said Arief.
Previously, Wahyu Setiawan KPU Commissioner also did not deny the possibility of reforming the debate format.
Wahyu Setiawan proposed that the second debate would no longer leak the grid to the Candidate pair. "The second debate about the questions made by the panelists will no longer be notified to the candidate pairs, this is my recommendation during the plenary meeting," he said.
Wahyu Setiawan said, the KPU received openly openly all criticisms and suggestions. Wahyu Setiawan claims, in addition to criticizing the grid leak, the KPU will also consider the technical as well as the mechanism of the subsequent debate.
